Why is it that every time I drive to a place I know that I will find a parking place just outside the venue?
On a recent trip down to London I decided to drive from my home in Yorkshire into the heart of the West End to hear two very inspirational speakers. The week before I played a scene in my mind of how that evening would pan out…..
I saw us arriving at the edge of the congestion charge zone at the time it stopped being chargeable, then driving into the West End and parking the car around the corner from the Strand Palace Hotel in good time to register and attend the evening. Then, I promptly forgot all about it.
As we approached London I had no doubts about what would happen. We approached the edge of the congestion charge zone at 5.50pm (charges stop at 6pm). Perfect timing for getting a sandwich and a drink before driving into town. The traffic in town was heavy, we had 45 minutes to find the venue etc before the event began.
I drove past the Savoy Hotel and towards Trafalgar Square at 6.30pm. Then past the Strand Palace and round the corner. There was my parking place. After parking the car I looked up to realize that parking charges do not apply after 6.30pm. We strolled round the corner and registered for the event at 6.50pm. Perfect!!
The event was about how we can influence change in our lives. The speaker Bruce Muzik
was very entertaining as well as inspirational.
His message is this; results come from actions, actions come from thoughts, thoughts come from beliefs. To change results, change your beliefs.
Work on this everyday and you will find that your thoughts change and then your actions, and then your results.
Easier said than done I hear you say.
I used to wake up in the middle of the night and toss and turn and think. Then whenever I went to bed I’d worry that I would wake up and toss and turn and think. Sure enough, this is what happened.
One night I decided to count backwards from 300. I realized that I hardly ever reached 200 and that made me realize that I was really only awake for about two minutes.
I felt so much better. Every time I woke up in the night I started to count backwards knowing that I would soon fall back to sleep.
In only three weeks I started noticing the results.
My belief had changed from ‘I’ll be awake all night’ to ‘I’ll soon fall back to sleep’.
My action had changed and my results had changed too.
If I wake up in the night now I simply think ‘three hundred’ and I’m asleep in no time.
It takes less time than you think, but if you never start it will take you forever.
The other speaker Molly Beddingfield needs an entry all of her own.
