Isn’t it amazing that when you are feeling passionate about something and it is consuming your thoughts and filling your every waking moment, that things happen to help you along the way?
I guess this is what Kate Bush was talking about in her song “Strange Phenomenon”
We’ve all experienced that thing when you happen to be thinking about someone and out of the blue they call you up.
This is what has happened to me in the last week.
I’ve been thinking about “The Fastest Growing Women’s Plumbing Company in the UK” non stop.
I’ve been figuring out how (That’s the Mechanic Profile in me) I’m going to find these brave women, how I’m going to help them complete their courses and how together, we are going to;
- bring women plumbers to the masses
- change society’s view about women in manual trades
- encourage young women to want to be plumbers in the future and believe they can
There I am just thinking and thinking and seeing the future in my own head and I begin to get phone calls.
First, a young woman is looking to become a plumber, and can’t find a placement. This means she can’t find a college.
Then, an old friend who will be studying Theology, and travelling to far flung places and can’t wait to help getting the charitable arm going. AND, her mother in the background calling out very helpful information over my friend’s shoulder.
All this before breakfast!!
There is such a high drop out rate of women in these courses. We’ve decided to offer students a coaching and mentoring service to enable a high completion rate, and then place them in our company.
I’ve also had offers of help to create my database and the wonderfully, efficient Jan Scott
has agreed to build my website.
Thanks to everyone.
Since it’s Sunday morning, I’m going to have breakfast now.
I reckon I’ll turn my thoughts and intentions towards financing the venture, and where the fleet of shiny black VW Caddy’s is going to come from, whilst eating my scrambled eggs.
Good blog post!!!.
