What our customers say about Julie

She was brilliant!

She did a very good job, Everything about her was lovely. She made us feel so comfortable and answered all our questions. We’ll definitely be using her again – well, you know, you always hope you won’t need a plumber, but … lol’

More about Julie

Julie was brought up in Rochdale and initially trained as a registered nurse in Edinburgh, but although she loved helping people she soon got tired of NHS politics. Being a bit of an amateur car-tinkerer, she decided to go and study engineering, and graduated from Manchester with a B.Eng degree in 1989. At this point in her life she’d never thought of becoming a plumber. She has worked in medical, electrical and technical engineering, and finally became self-employed as an engineering cost-analyst in 2009. It was whilst working on a project for a water pump manufacturer that she first became interested in all-things plumbing, and she started to study for the City & Guilds qualification and carry out small plumbing jobs alongside her “day-job”. Eventually lots of referrals for plumbing work from happy customers meant she could become a full-time plumber in 2013, and Julie joined Stopcocks in April 2015. She’s delighted to work as a plumber, serving her local community.

She is a single mum and her son Tom is at Rochdale Football Club studying Sports. Their excitable Alsatian-Collie dog, who needs lots of exercise helps to keep her and partner Nigel quite fit!

“Plumbing is the best work in the world for me – I can use my practical skills to help people, and apply engineering logic to diagnose faults as well. Everybody’s plumbing problem is a different challenge, and you learn something new every single day. I only wish I had done it years ago!”
